The Michael Matthews Foundation was established following Michael's death whilst descending from the summit of Mount Everest in May, 1999. Michael (22) is the youngest Briton to have summited Mount Everest, and was cheerful, hard-working and modest. Wherever he was there was laughter.
He is much-loved and greatly missed by his family and friends.
The Michael Matthews Foundation raises money for the purpose of helping handicapped or underprivileged sports men and women to achieve excellence on their merit.
